Try MailMailer

A test version of MailMailer is available at Try MailMailer. This allows you to preview the software without installing it on your server. Try MailMailer processes all emails without actually sending them (Send without emailing) and Save functions are disabled. When you Download and install MailMailer on your server emails will be sent to all addresses in your mailing list and save functions enabled.

You can Download MailMailer as shareware free for evaluation. The evaluation version includes all MailMailer functions but requires a link to softSWOT and includes an email tag line. To maintain software beyond evaluation you must Register MailMailer. Registered software is not linked to softSWOT and has no tag lines.

Installation

MailMailer runs on your web server, in some cases this will be your Internet Service Provider (ISP). To run MailMailer your server must support the php scripting language. Most commercial web servers support php. For information on php and how to check if it is available on your server goto What is php?

Downloaded software is compressed and requires unzipping for use. Trial Zip software is available free from Winzip. To install simply unzip the downloaded file and upload the file MailMailer.php to your web server. Then open MailMailer in your browser i.e www.myserver.com/MailMailer.php. If php is not supported by your server you will be notified when you open MailMailer.

MailMailer includes the option to set Default Values before you upload your file. To change these values simply open MailMailer in your text editor (i.e notepad) and adjust the default values between the inverted commas. Any other changes may cause MailMailer to fail. Default values are located between //###### line markers and include:

• Default Mailing List File Name
  $user_ml_file = "MailList.txt"
• Default Email Body File Name
  $user_body_file = "Body.txt"
• Default From Email Address
  $user_from_email = ""
• Default From Name
  $user_from_name = ""
• Default Email Subject
  $user_subject = ""

Mailing List File Name is a file from which you can load your Mailing List Contacts or you can simply input the details directly into MailMailer. The default file name is MailList.txt. To use this file you must setup a Mailing List text file in the same directory on your sever as you place MailMailer. If you wish to Save to this file from MailMailer your server permissions for this file must be set to allow file writing. The format of the Mailing List file is email address,contact name. Comma separated with one contact per line. You can manually input these details into your Mailing List file or export them from your database or email software. When you Load from MailMailer the Mailing List File contents will be placed into the Mailing List textarea.

Email Body File Name is a file from which you can load your Email Body, this could be a base template for you newsletters. Alternatively you can copy and paste or simply input the details directly into MailMailer. The default Email Body file name is Body.txt. To use this file you must setup a Body text file in the same directory on your sever as you place MailMailer. If you wish to Save to this file from MailMailer your server permissions for this file must be set to allow file writing. When you Load from MailMailer the Body File contents will be placed into the Body textarea.

MailMailer will function without changes to Default values or setting up Load files. If you are uncertain on how to use/setup Default Values or Load files you can simply decide not to use them or Contact Us for Installation support on Registered software.

Instructions for Use

Once installed on your server open MailMailer in your browser (i.e www.myserver.com/MailMailer.php).

Mailing List textarea is for the list of contacts to receive your email. The contacts must be one per line, comma separated, in the format email address,name. For example:

fred@hotmail.com,Fred Smith
joe@aol.com,Joe Jones

You can input these directly into the textarea, copy and paste from another file or load them from your Mailing List Load File (refer to Installation).

From textareas contain your email address and name these are used for the from and reply fields in the sent email. You can input these directly into the textareas or use default values (refer to Installation).

Subject textarea contains your email subject. You can input this directly into the textarea or use default values (refer to Installation).

Email Body textarea is for the body of your email. You can input this directly into the textarea, copy and paste from another file or load from your Email Body Load File (refer to Installation). The merge function will replace any occurrence of NAME with the contact name provided in the Mailing List textarea for each email sent. If there is no name provided for a contact NAME will be blank.

Load File Names are the names of files from which you can Load and Save your Mailing List and Email Body (refer to Installation).

Preview opens a new Preview window and displays the first email that will be sent.

Send sends the email to each of the contacts in the Mailing List textarea. On send a new Status window is opened to display the Send Start Time and current email number being sent. If Status list all is selected each Mailing List email address will also be displayed as it is processed. When all emails have been sent the Send Stop Time is displayed. You can print the Status window as a record of your transmission. On Send completion MailMailer displays the the body of the last email sent in the Email Body textarea. If Send without emailing is selected the Send process will be performed without actually transmitting the emails.

Reset clears the form to default values, any unsaved data will be lost.

Evaluation Version

Software is provided as shareware free for evaluation to allow you to assess software function. Evaluation software must be able to link to softSWOT.com (therefore must be internet based) and includes a softSWOT tag line in all emails sent. If a link to softSWOT can not be established an error message will result and the Send function disabled. To maintain software beyond evaluation you must Register MailMailer.

Registered Version

Registered software is not linked to softSWOT and has no tag lines. It can be run on internet or intranet servers and can be freely used within your business, however you may not distribute registered software in any form. You can Register MailMailer online for just $US15.00.
